William Mansfield Roberts' Great Great GranddaughterBy Angela Stout 24 July 2023 One of the delights you get when you attend the Roberts Reunion is getting to know a new relative and through this new acquaintance you learn more about our ancestors. Such is the case with my cousin Rachel Elizabeth (Morris) Dixon. This was the first year that Rachel had been to our reunion and she was a little nervous because she didn’t know what to expect. Rachel came to both days of events and met many of her relatives; went to ancestor gravesites; learned more about her heritage; shared pictures from her lineage; partnered up with Barbara (her Oklahoma relative) for the cornhole tournament; and really jumped into the reunion with both feet. Here is Rachel on the porch of the Heritage House. My parents and I recently got the chance to have lunch with Rachel and her boyfriend James. It was great fellowship as we learned more about her life and talked more about her lineage and next year’s reunion. Rachel was happy to tell us that her mom has put next year’s reunion on her calendar…so Rachel hopes to bring her mom to the reunion. Here we are in Knoxville having lunch. Rachel is a lucky one to be a descendant of Joseph Roberts by two lines. She comes through Francis Marion Roberts and Marinda “Mandy” Roberts. Rachel’s great grandma was Zola May Roberts whose parents were William Mansfield Roberts and Eulah Solona Lindsey. Here is Rachel at their gravesite from this year’s reunion. Eulah’s grandpa was Harmon Young Lee and great grandma was Marinda (Roberts) Lee. William Mansfield Roberts’ grandpa was Francis Marion Roberts. We are hoping that many of Marinda (Roberts) Lee descendants will attend Roberts Reunion 2024, as we try and highlight her life. |
