Cave Path Opens

By Tommy Roberts - 20 May 2019

It's official!  The path to the cave is officially open.

This cave is directly across Mine Lick Creek from the Joseph Roberts' Homestead.  During the Civil War, Joseph's son, Francis Marion lived in the homestead.  After joining the Union Army, Francis Marion would sometimes visit home to check on his family.  If the rebels were in the area, he often times had to hide in the cave.  Probably slept in the cave at night to keep from being surprised by the rebel soldiers and/or rebel sympathizers.

The cave is difficult to access but now a narrow (very narrow) trail has been built to the cave.  If you decide to walk the trail and explore the cave, please understand that you do so at your own risk.  I have posted a warning sign and made the trail as safe as possible, but it is still not for those with balance issues.  BE CAREFUL!!!!
