Smellage Cemetery Decoration

By Angela Stout - 27 May 2019

The big event here yesterday was the annual Memorial Day decoration of the Smellage Cemetery where friends and family gather to put flowers on their loved ones grave, fellowship with each other and honor those military members who paid the ultimate price for service to our nation.  The sun was shining...the cemetery looked well maintained...and the flowers on the markers were beautiful.  Though it is not attended as much as the early years, it is still wonderful to gather together and remember our loved ones!

This year's Decoration Service read the names of all the military veterans and the Honor Guard played taps to remember.  We have many Roberts Switch families who have served in the military and some who died in service to our nation.  We then had a church service where we enjoyed singing of old hymns and then a sermon.

Thanks to all those who make the Smellage Decoration possible...and don't forget the Joseph Roberts Cemetery Decoration on 31 May at 4 pm.

Yours truly, Angela (Roberts) Stout, at her grandparents graves
