Cronk Reunion

By Tommy Roberts

The descendants of William Alexander Cronk and Malissa Roberts had their annual reunion this past weekend.  Malissa was daughter of Joseph Roberts.  She had a tough life as her husband, William Alexander Cronk, was killed by ambush on his way to enlist in the Union Army during the Civil War.  This left Malissa with seven minor children to care for.  Additionally, one of Malissa's daughters had six kids and then died leaving Malissa to raise those six grandkids.  William Alexander and Malissa have many descendants in this area and many more scattered about the land.

There was a good turnout for this year's reunion.  Several lines were represented and descendants came from throughout America.

The Cronk Reunion is always on Sunday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend.  We hope you can make it next year.

In the photo to the top left below, some of those attending met at the Smellege Cemetery on 'Decoration Day' to put flowers on  the headstones of William Alexander and Malissa (Roberts) Cronk and their grandson Joe Fred Cronk with wife Effie and some of their family.
