Granddaughters Bury Hatchet

By Tommy Roberts - 7 Jun 2019

The Carr girls end "feud" at Roberts Family Reunion.  Kara Gay (Carr) Clanton & Lorene (Carr) Glausier discovered each other at the Reunion.  Both being descendants of Joseph Roberts through his daughter Violet.  Violet's daughter, Mary, married Byrd Carr.

Byrd and Mary had about 13 children as was the norm in those days.  One son, Mash (Lorene's grandfather), shot and killed his brother Jim (Kara's grandfather) on 18 Jul 1924.  As reported in the Putnam County Herald:

ARTICLE:
About 7 o'clock last Friday morning near the home of John Roberts in the 13th District of Putnam County, M. W. Carr shot and instantly killed his brother James Carr firing one time with a pistol. Several persons witnessed the tragedy, the cause of which we have been unable to learn. M. W. Carr has not been arrested, having left the scene of the shooting before any officers arrived, but will probably surrender soon. Both men were married.

In truth there was never a feud between Lorene and Kara.  But, it was an interesting conversation piece at the reunion.  Then, someone said, get a picture of them and put it in the News Clips.  Voila!  Done!

The newspaper mentions "the cause of which we have been unable to learn".  Of course I have heard the family gossip but will not report it here because it is gossip.  You can't get the family gossip in the News Clips.  You must come to the Reunion to hear it.  :o)
