William Browder LeeBorn: 19 Jun 1826 in Rutherford County, Tennessee Died: 14 Feb 1909 in Ada, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma Company I, 1st Regiment, Tennessee Mounted Infantry, USA 4 Dec 1864-22 Jul 1865 William was son of Joseph Richard Lee and Mary Stacy. He married Marinda Roberts, daughter of Joseph Roberts and Rachel Carter. They had 10 children between 1844 and 1862.
William converted to the Mormon faith sometime before 1888. Miranda, his wife, did not convert. William went to Utah sometime around 1888. Miranda stayed in Tennessee. This evidently caused some hard feelings as William filed for his civil war pension from Utah and stated that he was not married and had no children. Some of William and Miranda's children also converted to LDS and went west either to Oklahoma or Utah. William was visiting his relatives in Oklahoma when he died on 14 Feb 1909. He is buried in the "Old Hird" Cemetery just outside of Ada, Oklahoma. Besides the tombstone he has in the Old Hird Cemetery, he has a memorial stone in the Lee Cemetery in Boma, Tennessee where Miranda is also buried. Besides the many descendants William has here in Tennessee, he has many also in Oklahoma and Utah. Of course they are also spread out to everywhere else as well. Descendant Joyce (Lee) Jones lives in Lawton, Oklahoma and organizes an annual Lee Reunion at that location.
