Spreading Gravel on Cemetery Road

Big news here today is the spreading of gravel on the Joseph Roberts Family Cemetery Road.  As many of you know, this is a steep, narrow, hill road.  Some of you get very nervous when traveling this road to the cemetery.  It is so steep and so narrow that I have previously been unable to hire anyone to spread gravel on the road.  Thus, previously, it was necessary that the gravel be hauled to the road with a tractor scoop - one scoop at a time.  Well, I am pleased to announce that I found a contractor willing to traverse the hill with his large dump truck.  He hauled 23 ton each load.  Even I was nervous and relieved when he finished the sixth and final load.

So, for those of you who were nervous traveling this road in an automobile, consider the pictures below.  Perhaps it will make the automobile trip seem relatively safe.  :o)

With some additional dozer work and this new layer of gravel, the road is better than ever and perhaps a foot wider in places.  Every little bit helps!  I hope you will all feel safe when we go to next year's decoration.
