2024 Roberts Reunion Recap

All,

The weather was threatening rain and drizzle but warm hearts prevailed!  We were happy to have a little over 60 people in attendance!  Great food, heritage presentations, corn hole tournament and lot's of fellowship made for a successful and fun reunion.

Here are some highlights:

The morning sunrise was beautiful over the reunion location!

Several people made the drive down to the Joseph Roberts Cemetery for the decoration.  Such a peaceful place that Joseph and Rachel made their home!

The noon potluck started with our group photo, a moment of silence for loved ones we lost, prayer and then lots of eating.  Thanks to Phil Loftis for taking the pictures again this year.

We also had others share photos they took.  The photos are posted in the website picture gallery for you to enjoy.

The first presentation was the highly awaited "Who was Joseph's Daddy" and only two very small creeks were jumped to announce that Joseph Roberts daddy was William Roberts and his daddy was Henry Roberts!  Thanks to Tommy Roberts for the work he did to make this claim.

Who is Joseph Roberts' Daddy?

Angela followed up with the continuation of the Heritage Series...Meet Marinda "Mandy" Roberts.  First year was John Harrision Roberts, last year was Violet Roberts and this year we learned about Miranda "Mandy" Roberts.

Marinda Roberts

After learning about Marinda, Phil provided the financial report and we gave out the 2024 attendance award winners:

- Oldest:  Patricia "Pat" (Boyd) Holton who was born 7 Mar 1932...making her 92 years young!  She is the 3rd great granddaughter of Joseph Roberts through the Francis Marion line.

- Youngest:  Miss Lizzy Bowen is 7 years old and the granddaughter of Gary Palmer.  Gary is the 3rd great grandson of Joseph Roberts through the Francis Marion Roberts line.

- Farthest traveled:  Katherine "Katie" Farmer (3rd great granddaughter of Joseph Roberts through the Francis Marion line) and daughter Elizabeth Osipenko (4th great granddaughter of Joseph Roberts through the Francis Marion line) traveled from Salt Lake City, Utah...a little over 1,700 miles.

After the presentations, Tommy #2 started the 2024 Cornhole Tournament.  We had the full spectrum of throwing abilities...lots of focus and laughs were had by the competitors.  The winners (and first repeat champions) were Marci Roberts and son Ryan Roberts (the 5th great grandson of Joseph Roberts through the Francis Marion line).  The runners up were Tommy #2 (4th great grandson of Joseph Roberts) and Phil Loftis 3rd great grandson of Joseph Roberts) both through the Francis Marion line.  Shout out to Gail and Angela who managed to get 3 points in their two games:-)  Thanks again to the Harry family for making special t-shirts for the winners!

We have Rachel (Morris) Dixon the 5th great granddaughter to Joseph Roberts through the Francis Marion line to thank for making these wonderful videos for those who weren't able to join us.  She also went around and made several short videos of family members.
